I studied pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Chile, where I began my research in mitochondrial biology, specifically investigating the relationship between cardiac hypertrophy and mitochondrial dynamics. I then pursued a Ph.D. in biochemistry, conducting research at both the University of Chile and the Max Planck Institute for Biology of Aging in Germany, with a focus on mitochondrial proteostasis. Currently, I am performing my postdoctoral work at EMBL Heidelberg, utilizing stability and functional proteomics approaches to explore mitochondrial homeostasis in both physiological and disease conditions.
